The Monastery of Agios Lavrentios in Pelion: The Byzantine Monastery of Agios Lavrentios was built in 1378 and it was named after the monk Lavrentios, who founded the monastery after living Mount Athos. Every year on the 15th and 16th of August there is a large celebration to the memory of the monk, where many people attend from every part of Greece.
The monastery of Agios Lavrentios belongs to the homonymous village and is built on 550m altitude, 20 km from Volos, the capital of Pelion. It is one of the most beautiful villages in the area, with many antique mansions and a spectacular nature to enjoy.
