Skopelos has three ports: the main one, known as Skopelos Port, is located in Skopelos Town, while the second biggest one lies in the picturesque village of Glossa, around 28 kilometers northwest of the main town. A third, smaller port can be found in Agnontas, on the island’s southwestern coast, approximately 8 kilometers from Skopelos Town.

Skopelos Port

Situated in the southeastern part of Skopelos, Skopelos Port is the island’s main harbor. Surrounded by picturesque houses that sprawl on low hillslopes, it lies within walking distance from the town center and all the necessary tourist facilities.

Throughout the year, Skopelos Port is well-connected to the town of Volos in mainland Greece, as well as to the neighboring islands of Skiathos and Alonissos. Moreover, it receives seasonal ferry connections from the city of Thessaloniki —the largest city in Greece after Athens— as well as from the seaside town of Mantoudi in Euboea (or Evia) in Central Greece. The seasonal routes are generally available between June and late September or early October.

The ferry companies that operate routes from Volos, Skiathos and other ports to Skopelos are Seajets and Aegean Flying Dolphins.

Public Buses

Public Buses are the best transportation option for those traveling on a budget. The central bus station is located on Doulidou Street, less than 200 meters from the port, and from there you can take the bus to Glossa, as well as to some of the most popular beaches, like Stafilos, Agnontas, Panormos, Milia and Kastani. However, it is important to bear in mind the routes are not very frequent, while buses may also run irregularly. Tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver, but note that the only payment method accepted is cash.

Taxis

Though taxis are an expensive option when compared to buses, they are definitely faster and more flexible. Regardless of the length of the route, it is a good idea to clarify the cost of the ride in advance, as a minimum route cost may apply. Taxis can usually be found in central spots, including Skopelos Port, Neo Klima and Glossa Square, but, for greater convenience, you can also book a taxi by calling on any of the following numbers: 0030 697 2693375, 0030 697 28413329, 0030 694 4132143, 0030 698 2539919.

Car Rentals

Renting a car is not only the most convenient way to leave the port but also to move around the island without having to depend on taxis or buses. Having your own car will allow you to explore the island’s natural and cultural gems with greater freedom, unlocking destinations that would not be accessible otherwise. Several car rental agencies can be found around the port and the seafront.

It is also good to know that some hotels may offer shuttle service to and from the port. To arrange a port transfer (if available), you should contact your accommodation prior to arrival. This service is usually available at an additional charge, but, in some cases, it may be available for free.

Facilities

The main Port of Skopelos is conveniently located within walking distance from the town center and all the necessary tourist facilities, including accommodation options, cafes, taverns, shops and car rental agencies. Close to the port, you will also find a travel agency.
