MORE ABOUT SKOPELOS GREECE

Skopelos is a striking island of the Sporades that stands out for its lush vegetation, exotic beaches, and picturesque villages. It lies between Skiathos and Alonissos and is the second-busiest destination of the island complex.

Villages like Town and Glossa preserve the unique traditional architecture, which makes them incredibly photogenic. At these locations, you’ll find a great selection of hotels, shops and traditional taverns where you can taste local delicacies.
Apart from the charming settlements, there are numerous beaches with crystal clear cobalt waters, such as Stafylos, Panormos and Elios. A drive along the island’s coastline, though, will get you to many secluded beaches as well. The features making the beaches of Skopelos stand out are the glimmering turquoise, emerald, and azure waters surrounded by trees (mostly pine forests), which sometimes stretch all the way to the shore!

The most popular site on the island is the church of Agios Ioannis in Kastri. That’s because the wedding scenes of the Mamma Mia movie were shot there. Nowadays, many tourists visit the church of Agios Ioannis to marvel at the romantic setting and sometimes combine it with a swim in the waters of the adjacent beach!
Other interesting sights worthy of a visit include the few museums found in Town and the churches and monasteries scattered across the island. Many hiking trails starting from Skopelos Town connect the island's capital with remote yet beautiful structures.

Thanks to its proximity to other islands of the Sporades island group, it is a great base for island hopping. Popular island-hopping itineraries are from Skopelos to Skiathos and from Skopelos to Alonissos. You can get from one island to the other by ferries, which operate daily.
Whether you’re after relaxing or adventurous holidays, Skopelos will bewitch you!
