Close to Lalaria Beach, one of the most photographed beaches in Greece, there are two beautiful sea caves known under the names of Skotini and Galazia. These two caves rank among the most beautiful natural sights in Skiathos and are only accessible by boat. Visitors find them irresistible, and they are much preferred not only by swimmers, but also by divers who enjoy their fascinating underwater landscape.
Skotini (Dark) cave is a legendary sea cavern characterized by a low and narrow entrance that can only be traversed by small boats. It is about 20 meters deep and, as its name indicates, the darkness inside it is very deep. Conversely, Galazia Spilia (Blue cave) is bigger in size and is given a mesmerizing beauty by the sunlight as it is reflected on the rocks. Both of these renowned caves feature prominently in many works of the influential Skiathian writer Alexandros Papadiamantis, who was profoundly inspired by life on his native island.
A trip from Skiathos to select spots around the island, this excursion is ideal for anyone who wants to explore some of its finest shores, a few picturesque villages, and remote islets with excellent sea waters!
