Skiathitiko Spiti is a stone-built, two-story house located in Skiathos Town, the capital of the island. Dating to the early 20th century, around 1910, it is a shining example of the traditional architecture of the island. Today private efforts have been made to preserve and promote the traditions and heritage that have defined the island since the 20th century, with the house being turned into a museum that hosts a variety of fascinating exhibits.

The ground floor of the house features the living room, which is adorned by a fireplace, vintage furnishings including traditional sofas from Kastro, traditional costumes, carpets, embroidery, and silk. The dining room boasts even more wonderful furniture and decorations such as the chairs made of handmade knitted bamboo. Of major interest is the beautiful chandelier that dates back to 1883.

A wooden staircase leads visitors to the upper floor, which consists of three rooms. The family loom lies in the first room to the right, used for creating textiles and everyday Skiathian wear. The second room houses a collection of old photographs that showcase the daily lives of the family that once lived in the house, spanning multiple generations over the past few centuries. There are also official documents and various family heirlooms. Finally, there is the bedroom, which houses a large iron bed decorated with the silk and textiles of the family, the wooden bridal chest, and handmade carpets and silk.

Tours are offered by the owners of the museum that will take you on an educational journey through the house as you learn about the traditions and culture of the island.

The museum is open every day, from 10:00 to 13:00 and 18:00 to 22:00.
