Location: Town

The Church of Agios Georgios is situated just south of the Airport of Skiathos, about 1.5 km from Skiathos Town. Located amidst a beautiful olive grove, it was constructed in 1871 to commemorate Saint George. According to local folklore, a farmer called Georgios Kopsidakis was visited by the saint in his dreams. Saint George requested him to construct the church, indicating the building location and exact dimensions. When the humble man started digging in the intended location, he unearthed numerous gold coins, which he used to fund the construction of the church.

Today, the church boasts a modest exterior, distinguished by its traditional architecture, stone features, and roof tiles. Inside you will find a wooden iconostasis with icons depicting various religious figures. The golden chandeliers hanging from the roof add an enchanting quality to the church, and there is also a spot for you to light a candle. A small courtyard lies outside, perfect for spending some moments of relaxation amidst the serene natural environment.
