Skiathos Aselinos beach

General information

Embraced by the verdant foothills of Mount Kounistra, Megalos (Big) Aselinos is a heavenly cove with coarse golden sand, crystalline turquoise waters and glorious sea views which compose one of the most idyllic landscapes on the entire island. However, as it is located on the northern side of the island, which is exposed to the northern winds, it tends to be ruffled with big waves on windy days; and while this is not enough to spoil its special charm, it means that it might not always be the ideal place for families with little children.

The beach is partly organized with a few umbrellas and sunbeds, but most of the shore remains free for visitors to lay down their own equipment. There is also a nice tavern, but, otherwise, there are no other facilities in the area, helping it retain its wild beauty.

The beach is best reached by boat from Skiathos Town, but it is possible to get here by car. In the latter case, you need to bear in mind that, though the greatest part of the road is paved, towards the end you will have to proceed along a dirt trail. For even greater privacy, you can proceed to the nearby Mikros (Small) Aselinos.
