General information

East of Alonissos lies Peristera, a small islet with striking natural beauty. The islet offers visitors plenty of swimming and snorkeling opportunities in the form of small, isolated coves. Perhaps the most popular swimming destination is the homonymous Peristera Beach on the southern coastline.

The main attraction of Peristera Beach is undoubtedly its unspoiled natural beauty. The lovely sandy coast presents a wonderful adornment of white and grey pebbles, while the waters are crystal blue and shallow, inviting visitors for a tranquil swim. Beautiful green hills protect the area from strong winds, and pine trees stretch to the shore. It should be noted that the beach remains unorganized, so beach-goers are advised to come well-equipped with food, water, and anything else they might need.

Peristera Beach is accessible only by boat which departs from the port of Alonissos in Patitiri. Boats can also take you to the neighboring beach of Kokkalias, another popular swimming spot. Snorkeling enthusiasts can venture out to the northwestern side of the islet, where they can explore the famous Peristera Shipwreck.
