Alonissos Megali Ammos beach

General information

The beach of Megali Ammos lies on the west coast of Alonissos, about 6.5 km north of Patitiri. It is small and pebbly with crystalline waters. The surrounding landscape is wild and unspoiled, with impressive rocky hills and lush pine trees. The beach is usually quiet and rarely crowded, ensuring privacy and tranquility.

The beach is mostly untouched, except for a few umbrellas and sunbeds that are available for rent. There are no restaurants or beach bars nearby, so visitors are advised to come prepared with all necessities including food and water. In fact, the quiet nature of this beach and this whole area has been preserved because of its lack of shops and other amenities. On the other hand, when missing the crowds, it is time to get back to Patitiri, where visitors can enjoy a delicious meal after a great day at the beach.

Visitors can reach Megali Ammos from Patitiri by car, although the road is unpaved. While in the area, one can also opt to visit some of the smaller coves near Megali Ammos, ideal for private swimming and sunbathing.
