Poros Russian Bay beach

General information

A short distance past Neorio Beach (1.5 km) one will encounter the Russian Bay, reputedly the best beach on the island. The beautiful and picturesque bay boasts golden sand and clear waters and is incredibly peaceful, being protected from the winds.

What makes the Russian Bay stand out is that it is a site of major historical importance, as it is the place where the first Russian ships docked to help the Greeks during the Greek War of Revolution against the Ottomans. The ruins of the Russian shipyard can still be seen, and have been declared a listed heritage monument. 

Another unique feature is the nearby beautiful islet of Daskalio, also known as the island of Eros, with a quaint chapel on top. You can reach the island by boat or even by swimming. 

The beach is well-organized with parasols, sunbeds, and showers. There is also a bar where you can enjoy a variety of snacks and drinks, as well as mouthwatering grill dishes under the shade of the towering pine and eucalyptus trees.

The beach lies 5 km from Poros Town.
