More about Skala
When it comes to cuisine, the local restaurants offer delicious traditional dishes, for which they are reputed as being the best on the island. The seaside bars and cafes in the area are ideal for enjoying a refreshing drink and delectable snack with views of the glistening sea. For a livelier experience, you can visit one of the few nightclubs that provide a party-like atmosphere until the early morning hours.
Not everything in Skala is about tourism and amenities though. One of the biggest points of interest in the area is the imposing Church of Agioi Anargyroi. Found near Skala Beach, this impressive religious landmark is distinguished by its white walls and stunning blue dome. Visitors can also venture out to the small village of Metochi just south of Skala, where the charming Church of the Virgin Mary lies.
The port of Skala receives all ferries that depart from Athens and Aegina.
The central bus stop of the island is located about 250 meters from the pier, in front of the Church of Agioi Anargyroi. From there, you can take the bus to the settlements of Megalochori and Limenaria, as well as the beaches of Dragonera and Aponissos. The frequency of the bus itineraries depends on the destination, day, and time of year. Tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver. There is also one taxi operating in the area of Skala.
