Agistri Limenaria

General information

The settlement of Limenaria is located on the southeastern side of Agistri, about 4.5 km from Megalochori. This small village lies amidst a lush pine tree forest, offering a unique natural ambiance. Characterized by its traditional character, Limenaria hosts colorful buildings and rustic alleys that create a stunning picture.

The central square is dominated by the church of Agia Kyriaki. This three-aisled basilica has whitewashed walls, roof tiling, and an impressive dome. Every year on July 7th the locals gather in the church to celebrate the feast day of Agia Kyriaki, throwing a festival accompanied by local delicacies and traditional music. Opposite the church lies a tavern that serves local cuisine made with fresh products.

Just behind Limenaria, visitors will find the quiet Mariza Beach. Ideal for a relaxing swim, Mariza boasts a rocky coast and glistening waters. It is known for its wonderful seabed, which can easily be seen through the crystal-clear water. The beach remains unorganized, presenting an untamed natural environment in one of the most isolated areas on the island.

Limenaria can be reached from Skala, Megalochori, and Dragonera by bus. Routes are frequent, even more so during peak summer months. From Limenaria, you can also take the bus heading to Aponissos, and then make the return trip to Skala. Tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver.
