The small church of Agios Nikolaos is located in the southern part of Agistri, about 1 km from the settlement of Limenaria. Found on the road from Limenaria to Aponissos, very close to Lekani Lake, this Byzantine-era church is distinguished for being the oldest on the island. According to tradition, it was built to house the holy icon of Agios Nikolaos (Saint Nicholas) after being discovered in the area.
The church of Agios Nikolaos presents a humble exterior, with whitewashed walls, stone features, and roof tiling. A small cemetery is found next to it, said to have the graves of two pirates. A few icons and religious relics are housed in the church, including the holy icon.
