The Church of Agioi Anargyroi is located in the settlement of Skala, in proximity to the port. This imposing structure dominates the area and is visible from Skala Beach. The church is distinguished by its whitewashed walls and light blue dome, reminiscent of Cycladic architecture. Inside, visitors can see a collection of beautiful frescoes that stretch to its dome, along with a striking marble iconostasis.
The church’s small courtyard boasts some wonderful greenery and lovely tiling. On one side of the courtyard lies the Monument of the Fallen. It is dedicated to the 411 men led by the famed rebel Mitromaras who were killed by the Turks after attempting a revolution. Right in front of the courtyard, you will find the central bus stop of the island, with the local bus making stops at Megalochori, Limenaria, Dragonera, and Aponissos.
The feast day of the Church of Agioi Anargyroi is on July 1st. On that day, a large number of believers participate in Vespers before feasting at the seaside taverns of Skala.
