One thing is for sure - Aegina is famous for its excellent pistachio nuts and is the first producer of these nuts in Greece. The island even organizes an annual festival called Fistiki Fest, dedicated to pistachios and their by-products.
The island is very fertile and produces various agricultural products of excellent quality as well, such as figs, almonds, grapes, and olives. Its olive oil is extremely pure and has a wonderful taste.
Fishing is also one of the main occupations of the local inhabitants, so the restaurants and taverns in Aegina serve their guests delicious fresh fish.
Ceramics and pottery are also locally crafted in Aegina, particularly in workshops in the village of Mesagros.
