Edesmatopolio Petras is a small tavern in the main town of Aegina, overlooking the main harbor. This tavern is situated in one of the island’s oldest mansions, the Logiotatidis mansion built in the 19th century! It has a long-standing family tradition on the island, having been established in the 1950s by the Petras family.
The old mansion is well-preserved and the restaurant’s decor resembles a traditional Greek tavern of older, simpler times. What sets it apart is its position opposite the main harbor and next to the island’s main shops and attractions, a one-of-a-kind blend of old and new, with an amazing view of the sea!
Petras Restaurant offers delicious treats and small bites (mezes as it is called in Greek) paired with distinct wines, raki, or beers! In the morning, the restaurant offers small breakfast bites, like fresh pies sprinkled with Fistiki Aiginis (a green type of pistachio, produced in Aegina), combined with traditional Greek coffee. Its secret recipe is selecting premium local products, either from the island itself or traditional products from the rest of Greece. Petras Restaurant specializes in fish dishes since Aegina is one of Greece’s main fishing islands. Furthermore, it offers traditional dishes based on select cured meat products like Salami Aeros (a type of smoked salami) or local pastrami!
