  Small but perfect!

  So, It is the end of October of this dystopic year 2020 and I manage out of the blue to go with a friend for a short weekend in Aegina. It was last Friday. We visited the island in the direction of Aghia Marina first, the lovely temple of Aphaia and yesterday went in the direction of Perdika but intending instead to visit the Zeus before looking for a lovely beach to enjoy the wonderful clean and warm waters of the Greek October. We stopped for petrol, asked for directions and they told us to go to Perdika for a swim as the road ended there, somehow we had missed the turn for the temple. So we obeyed destiny, arrived there and went straight to the small rocky baby beaches to the right hand side. Found a lovely café with a terrace overlooking the water and a direct access to the rocky beach below. I cannot describe you the simple and easy elegance of the place. The post is small, there is a hill above it ans with a stairs you go up to the cafés from several points the length of the water. There are trees and flowers, a big choice of food and drink and the view from above is even more beautiful than from ground level. It is clean and elegant, no plastic chairs and tables but wood and cushions. The sun transforms everything, you understand the Greek poetic religion of Odysseas Elytis, the famous "sun metaphysics". The waves dance to the sun, opposite is a cycladic-like dry coast of mustard brown to your left on the other coast and to your right a small island that they told me you can visit by boat for 5 euros the return trip for empty green beaches and fresh fish at the exiled taverna. You can say it a landscape of the soul, it certainly clicked with me, en exiled Cretan who has been leaving in Paris for the last 25 years. I wish I could rent a place the whole year round and go there to taka care of my soul! A dream, of course... But I believe in dreams! So, go see for yoursel8
