Culminating on Sunday, the 2nd of March 2025, the Patra Carnival is the largest and most colorful carnival celebration in the whole country!
Festivities have started since the 18th of January, comprising a series of puppet shows, theatrical performances, art workshops, concerts, treasure hunts and plenty of activities for children. Now, as the carnival period is drawing towards its end, locals and visitors alike can have the time of their lives in a series of small parades that are to take place in some of the neighborhoods of Patra between the 25th and the 27th of February.
True to its well-established tradition, the Patra Carnival reaches its peak with the Night Parade, the so-called Podarati, on the evening of March 1st and the Big Parade on March 2nd! This year, events boast the participation of over 60,000 carnivalists and no less than 17 floats that are inspired by current affairs and stand out for their highly artistic and satiric character. The closing ceremony and the burning of the Carnival King are to take place on the night of March 2nd, following the Big Parade.
