Monemvasia is actually divided into two settlements: Palia Monemvasia (Kastro), the Medieval town carved along the sides of a rock, and Nea Monemvasia, the modern town outside the rock. Both settlements offer many tourist facilities.

Kastro Monemvasias
Location: On the south eastern side of Peloponnese
Description: Kastro (or Palia Monemvasia) is actually the Old Town, built entirely inside a huge rock on the sea. A narrow pathway connects the rock with the mainland.
Nea Monemvasia
Location: Opposite the rock of Monemvasia
Description: Nea Monemvasia is actually the modern town outside the Castle. It spreads around a small port and has many tourist facilities.
Agia Paraskevi
Location: 7 km south west of Monemvasia
Description: This is a small village in close distance to Monemvasia with a nice calm beach.
Agios Ioannis
Location: 8 km north west of Monemvasia
Description: This is a small village with traditional architecture. Not many tourist facilities are found there.
Agios Stefanos
Location: 8 km south west of Monemvasia
Description: This is a traditional village with old houses and narrow paved paths. Its inhabitants deal mostly with agriculture.
Gerakas
Location: 20 km north of Monemvasia
Description: This is a small village with beautiful port and wild landscape. The remains of an ancient town can be seen in close distance.
