General information

Skoutari village Gythio: On the way from Gythio to Areopolis you will find Skoutari, a beautiful village on the top of a hill with a picturesque view of the sea below. With the Skoutari Bay to its east, the village has a stunning landscape that includes mountains, forests, grasslands, rocks and bushes.

The village is mostly known for its fifteen churches, only one of which is regularly functioning. Nonetheless, these churches offer amazing chance to witness some beautiful 18th century frescoes, like this of Saint Ioannis Chrissostomos.

Skoutari has also three beaches, on one of which is a 15th Century Byzantine Church dedicated to Saint Varvara. Skoutari has around 150 inhabitants and is ideal for those who want to relive in the past or simply enjoy the quiet peacefulness of its present.
