Ancient Epidaurus is among the most famous archaeological sites in Greece. This ancient site was actually developed around the sanctuary of Asclepius, the healing god. This is the most popular ancient theatre in Greece. With amazing harmony and acoustics, this theatre was built in phases from the 4th till the 2nd century BC. In summer, many theatrical performances take place there.
The Sanctuary of Asklepios, also called Asklepieion, was a healing center in the ancient times. People would go there to be cured of illnesses and diseases. It is located next to the Ancient Theatre.
The ancient stadium of Epidaurus was constructed in the late Classical times and it was used during the quadrennial festival to honor god Asklepius. It is located next to the sanctuary of this healing god.
The Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus is located amidst many fruit trees close to the village of Palia Epidaurus. It was built in different stages from the 4th century BC till the Hellenistic times. Some theatre and musical performances take place there in summer.

The lovely church of Agios Nikolaos is located on a hill and can be seen from any spot of the port.
The monastery of Panagia Agnountos was built in the 18th century in the Byzantine style. It is famous for its frescoes and its nice location, close to the mountainous village of Nea Epidaurus.
Built in the 15th century, the Monastery of Taxiarches contributed a lot in the Greek War of Independence. Today it is a female monastery and it is open to visitors.
