There are not many festivals in Elafonissos, except for the celebrations of the local saints.
Religious feasts & festivals
August 15th
Every year on August 15th, a big feast is organized at the Church of Panagia in Elafonissos. Right after the holy service, the locals celebrate with food and wine. The evening starts with traditional dancing. A characteristic custom is the gathering of the young people at the beach of Panagia, the day before the feast. Many people arrive with boats from Kythira island and Mani, in mainland Greece, to celebrate with the locals.
December 12th
On December 12th, Elafonissos celebrates Agios Spyridon, the patron saint of the island. The feasts consist of traditional food, drinks, and live music.
