Location: Beach Promenade

Standing at the edge of the Waterfront, the Concert Hall of Thessaloniki is a modern venue of international standards, built to meet the needs of the city regarding hosting cultural events. Since its establishment, an array of events have made it their temporary home annually, including concerts, art and cultural exhibitions, theater and opera performances, and conferences.

The venue was inaugurated on January 2nd, 2000, and several prominent figures of that period attended the ceremony, including the prime minister of Greece, Kostas Simitis, and the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew. Events started being held in May of the same year.

The Concert Hall comprises two main buildings; the M1 Building and the M2 Building.
• The external design of M1 combines elements from the city’s Byzantine past and cosmopolitan present. The building hosts a big concert hall, a foyer (reception), event support facilities, like dressing and instrument storage rooms, and administrative and technical services offices. Special seats and lifts for people with mobility limitations are also provided.
M2 was designed by the famed Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. Its wide glass surfaces, geometric lines and metallic elements contrast beautifully with the adjacent M1. This building features 2 large halls; the Emilios Riadis Hall accommodating up to 500 people and the Maurice Saltiel Hall accommodating up to 300 people. The interesting thing about the latter is that it can be divided into 3 rooms with a capacity of 100 people or 2 rooms of 200 and 100 people respectively. In addition, M2 is home to the Music Library and the Museum of Musical Instruments as well. Last but not least, it has a luminous foyer with a fantastic vista and an underground parking lot with 230 parking spaces.
Beyond all the above, a roof-top bar-restaurant offering a lovely view of the Thermaic Gulf is available on the building’s premises.
