Zakynthos Katastari

General information

Katastari Village is a lovely settlement located 17 km away from Zakynthos Town. It is a picturesque settlement surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. It is built amphitheatrically aside from the main road, offering a fantastic view of the sea. The village preserves its traditional character and natural beauty.

Close to Katastari is the 17th-century monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos; from this point, you get superb views of Alykes. One of the closest villages is Pigadakia, which you can also reach on foot.

The local Folklore and Agricultural Museum exhibits an interesting collection of things, like silver plates, embroidery, sewing machines, traditional furniture and agricultural tools. Many visitors arrive here from the Town just to enjoy the local customs.
