General information

Kalamaki Beach in Zakynthos is a lengthy shore filled with light-brown, coarse sand, boasting warm, crystal-clear waters! Featuring a shallow seabed, Kalamaki is an excellent choice for families with young children, while it also functions as a natural habitat for the endangered Caretta-Caretta sea turtle! An extension of the nearby cosmopolitan beach of Laganas, Kalamaki is a much quieter beach destination.

It is a partly organized seashore, hosting a couple of spots with sun lounger pairs and sun umbrellas, whereas there is also plenty of open space without any tourist facilities! On top of that, one may spot a few nearby snack spots and lots of nearby accommodation options, as well as all the necessary shops and dining spots a few minutes away from the waters! Kalamaki is an easy-to-access beach since it is only a brief drive from the airport of Zakynthos!

    Visited Kalamaki for the 4th time
    This year I went to Kalamaki for the 4th time. I was with my husband and children and everytime I feel like it is my second home. The area is quiet and the hotels are built according to the traditional architecture. What is really funny is that due to the Sea Turtle protection, the hotels are not allowed to have windows in front of the sea. The turtle don't like the light. The sand there is really good and is perfect for the children. There are some really good restaurants but just a few bars. For more choice we were going to Laganas with is just a couple of kilometres west.
    The area is really close to the airport so a trip from home is very easy.
    I hope going there year after year and someday build myself a house there.
    I love it!
