The Olive Press Museum of Paxi is housed in a family-owned olive oil pressing business that dates to the 18th century. The museum is located outside the village of Magazia, on the road from Gaios to Lakka.
The olive press functioned from 1865 to 1960 and it currently exhibits various objects related to the production and use of olive oil, including tools, machinery, pots and oil lamps.
During a museum tour, you will have the opportunity to learn about the history and practices of olive oil production.
After all, olive oil has been a staple in the Greek gastronomy for hundreds of years.
You can purchase some locally produced oil at the museum once the tour is over.
