Kythira is an amazing destination close to the coasts of the Peloponnese. Although tourism in Kythira is not very developed compared to other Greek destinations, the island attracts many visitors every summer, with its appeal becoming greater annually. The crystal-clear waters of its mostly pristine beaches, the several settlements presenting an example of unique Greek architecture influenced by foreign cultures, the numerous points of historical and cultural interest, and the geniality of the locals have to be the main reasons why holiday in Kythira become an indelible memory for all!

Hotels and places to eat and drink are found across the island, from busy resorts to secluded beaches. Chora (the capital), Agia Pelagia, Potamos, and Avlemonas are among the busiest villages offering plenty of options though.

Access to Kythira is possible both by ferry and airplane. The island's airport is national and only receives flights from Athens, while the port (Diakofti) welcomes ferries from Athens, Chania, the Peloponnese, and Antikythira. Travelers from abroad can fly to Athens International Airport and either board another flight or take a ferry to Kythira from Piraeus. Kythira is not ideal for island-hopping due to the limited connections it has to other destinations, yet along with Antikythira is a fantastic option to continue your Greek holiday after exploring the Peloponnese!

No public buses operate on the island, limiting visitors' transportation options. Bringing your own vehicle or renting one is the best way to move around as the island is quite large. Alternatively, you can use the local taxis.

There is no tourist office or information point in Kythira, so guests can gather information from the locals or the travel agencies scattered in the busy areas.
Tourism in Kythira is particularly popular among families with kids and couples.
