General information

Kalami Beach is located on the east coast of Kythira, close to the village of Mylopotamos. It is ranked among the hardest-to-reach beaches on the island, yet those determined to visit it will be gifted a serene atmosphere and amazing sea view amidst pristine scenery! The small sandy shore and crystal-clear turquoise waters surrounded by a wild landscape are sure to bewitch you and make you forget the time it took to get there!

To reach Kalami, you first have to drive to Mylopotamos and an extra 4.5 kilometers afterward. At the end of the asphalt road lies a chapel, indicating the start of the dirt road. Vehicles can’t move past the asphalt road, so visitors must park their cars/motorbikes there and continue on foot. From the point where the asphalt ends, you need to walk 500 meters on the dirt road and another 300 meters on a downhill path. After descending the path, you will encounter some thick ropes tied on the rocks; you need to use them until your feet touch the beach.

As the route to the beach is demanding, it is strongly recommended to wear appropriate shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Also, since the beach is so remote, it is totally unorganized, so you should carry water, snacks, a sun umbrella, or anything else you may need.
