In brief, Kythira has a national airport that only receives domestic flights from Athens.
Alternatively, you can reach the island by ferry.

Kythira Airport (KIT) is located 20 km northeast of Chora, the capital of the island, and 11 km from Diakofti, where the port is found.
It started operating in 1971 and its alternative name is Alexandros Aristotelous Onassis Airport, named after the son of tycoon Aristotle Onassis.

Flights

Kythira is connected to the International Airport of Athens and only receives flights from it.
Flights are available year-round yet they become more frequent in summer to serve tourists.
The only airlines that connect the island with the Greek capital are Aegean Airlines (which also owns Olympic Air) and Sky Express. Travel time is approximately 50 minutes.

Taxis

A taxi rank lies outside the "Arrivals" area. Travelers will find taxis there when the airport is open.
