The Archaeological Museum of Ithaca, Ionian: Although not enough evidence has been found that truly connects Ithaca to the sweet homeland of Ulysses, archaeologists have found many ancient towns all around the island. These towns date from the prehistoric till the Roman times and various findings converge that they had periods of prosperity and decline.
Many of the findings in these towns are hosted in the small Archaeological Museum in Vathi Ithaca. Excavations from Aetos, Pisaetos, Kioni, Vathi and other regions in Ithaca have revealed coins, small statues, pieces of ceramic vases, jewelry and other items of daily use. A small collection of vases from the geometric times that were constructed in a local workshop is of special interest.
