The long history of Ithaca and the relation to the myth of Odyssey have brought many customs and traditions which are revived every year by the locals. Feasts are organized throughout the year but August is definitely the month with a plethora of religious celebrations. In honor of the patron saints of the island, the locals organize local fairs with food, drinks, and dancing till the late hours. Particularly, in August visitors will have the chance to enjoy the most important celebrations in Ithaca.

August 15th
On the 15th of August, locals celebrate the name of Holy Virgin with a fair in Platrithias village.
August 6th
The festival of the Saviour, the largest festival in Ithaca island, is held on the 5th and 6th of August. There is food, wine, and drinks for everyone.
June 30th
On the 30th of June, the celebration of Saint Apostles in Frikes village.
