Lemnos Thanos

General information

Thanos village Lemnos: Thanos village lies on the mountain slopes, just 4 km southeast of Myrina, the capital of Lemnos and close to Plati village. It has a population of 500 inhabitants most of whom are involved in agriculture. This small village is still untouched by the tourism craze and has retained its traditional beauty. Ruins of the church of Agios Konstantinos are one of the main attractions of Thanos.

The church of Panagia Kakkaviotissa is also interesting to see as it is believed to be the remnant of one of the many monasteries that were located on the island during 1305. It lies hidden inside a cave on top of the hill and is quite difficult to reach but is worth a visit.

In close distance is a beautiful sandy beach and the picturesque port where many fishing boats moor. The village has a few taverns and local shops. It is easily accessible with local buses from Myrina.
