General information

Eristos Beach is a captivating destination for travelers seeking a tranquil and unspoiled coastal experience. Situated approximately 8 kilometers from Livadia, the island’s main port, and about 3 kilometers south of Megalo Chorio, the capital, Eristos Beach is nestled within the Eristos Valley. This valley is renowned for its fertile lands, where fruits and vegetables are cultivated, contributing to the island’s agricultural product richness.

The beach is long and wide, featuring coarse sand interspersed with pebbles. Tamarisk trees line parts of the shore, offering much-needed shade during the hot summer months. The crystal-clear waters of Eristos are ideal for swimming, and the gradual slope of the seabed makes it suitable for visitors of all ages. Despite its beauty, Eristos remains relatively uncrowded, providing a sense of seclusion even during peak tourist seasons.

In recent years, Eristos has seen modest development to cater to visitors. A few tavernas and cafés have been established near the beach, offering traditional Greek cuisine and refreshments. Additionally, a minimarket is available for those who wish to purchase snacks or essentials.

For those interested in exploration, a dirt road extends to the left of the main beach area, leading to a narrow path along the coast. Following this trail for about 10 to 15 minutes brings adventurers to two smaller, secluded beaches. The first, often referred to as Kalimera Beach, is a tiny cove that can accommodate only a few visitors at a time, making it perfect for those seeking solitude. The Eristos Valley itself is a sight to behold, especially during the spring when wildflowers bloom in abundance, painting the landscape with vibrant colors. This area is also a haven for birdwatchers, as the diverse habitats between the beach and Megalo Chorio attract various bird species. Exploring the valley provides insight into the island’s agricultural practices and offers picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and sea.

Accessing Eristos Beach is easy. Visitors can reach the beach by following a track road from Megalo Chorio, making it one of the more easily accessible beaches on Tilos. For those relying on public transportation, buses connect Eristos with Livadia and Megalo Chorio, with a convenient bus stop just 100 meters from the shoreline.
