Valley of the butterflies and Filerimos hill
General Description
Join this interesting tour and see some of the most beautiful spots on Rhodes! First we will visit the Valley of Butterflies. This unique and peaceful natural setting is a paradise on Earth! The narrow rock-paved pathways, the rustic bridges, the running waters and the waterfalls that form tranquil lakes, framed with water-lilies create a mesmerizing setting! There are also numerous resting spots, which from mid-June to September are loaded with millions of brown-red butterflies! You can also visit the museum nearby, in which a large variety of different species is exhibited.
Afterwards, we will go on a short drive and we will ascend on the top of Filerimos Hill. Here you can visit the monastery of Our Lady and Filerimos cross. In order to reach this imposing cross and see the splendid view, you need to walk along a pathway known as "Golgothas". It is tree-sheltered, with a series of shrines and scenes of the Holly Passion. We will also visit the remains of the ancient acropolis of Ialyssos, one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes Island.
