When visiting the village of Kalithies, one should not skip making a stop by the Saint George Stalactite Cave. The place is accessible through a 2.5 km trek from Kalithies which should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. It should be noted that the trail is unmarked, and the hike up some of the higher areas can be a little tricky.
The cave holds significant historical value, as it is the oldest Neolithic dwelling on the island. The entrance to the cave is relatively innocuous. Once inside, you will see some geological formations, including a collection of beautiful stalactites. Furthermore, the cave’s positioning provides a remarkable panoramic view of the lush green landscape that surrounds it. In proximity to the cave, you will find the charming chapel of Saint George.
