Location: Lindos

The Tomb of Cleobulus the Lindian stands on the northern headland of Lindos Bay, around 3 kilometers from the settlement of Lindos. Cleobulous, who ruled Lindus in the 6th century BC, was also a poet and was one of the Seven Sages of Greece. In fact, some of his dictums, like metron ariston (all in good measure), are still widely quoted.

His tomb may not be particularly impressive, but it is well worth the hike, as the narrow, rocky path that leads to the monument affords stunning views of Lindos and its turquoise bay. The route is well-marked and takes about 1 hour. The best time to go is in the morning when the sun is still not too hot.
