In brief, Rhodes has numerous urban, suburban, and KTEL buses and routes. It is a low-cost option for moving around the island, with frequent itineraries reaching the most popular and tourist-friendly areas, as well as lots of small villages.
On the other hand, for a looser schedule without time constraints, the best option is a rental car.

Buses are one of the island's main means of transportation and, at the same time, the most cost-efficient way to move around.

Bus tickets

Bus ticket fares vary, depending on the type of bus and the destination.
For Rhodes Town's urban routes, a one-way ticket costs €1.20 and can be purchased online or at one of the dedicated spots.

Suburban routes along the western side of Rhodes start from €1.20 per ride, with distant villages and settlements costing up to €6.

Lastly, a visit towards the eastern coast of Rhodes (serviced by KTEL buses) costs from €2.50 for routes to Faliraki, Kathara Beach, Iris, Afandou, Kalithies, and Anthony Quinn Bay, up to €10.50 with a trip to Prasonisi.

 

Condition

All buses are modern and are equipped with air-conditioning and ventilation systems.
KTEL buses also offer luggage space free of charge.

 

Frequency

The city buses may be spotted passing by various bus stops in Rhodes Town. Additionally, bus departing stops for west-side suburban and east-side KTEL buses can be found in each destination, as well as some spots in between the main villages.

Buses are available throughout the year, though itineraries are more frequent during summer to serve the island's visitors, too.
