General information

Psili Ammos is often considered the most emblematic beach in Patmos and with good reason. Located on the southwestern edge of the island, in a remote, hardly accessible cove with fine golden sand and inviting turquoise waters, it is an unspoiled paradise surrounded by barren rocky hills.

Despite its rising popularity, the beach remains completely non-organized and the only thing you will find in the area is a small family-run tavern serving refreshments, as well as delicious home-made dishes.

To reach Psili Ammos, it is recommended to take one of the water taxis regularly leaving from Skala in the morning. If you’re into hiking though, you could also drive until Diakofti and then walk for about 30 minutes, as there is no paved road leading to the beach. The greatest part of the trail is relatively easy, but the final downhill part can be quite demanding. Thus, it is best to check the weather forecast before coming to Psili Ammos, as the coast is exposed to strong winds and the waves can get quite big on windy days.

Due to the strong religious background of Patmos, nudism is not entirely accepted. However, with the growth of tourism, things are beginning to change and the far south end of Psili Ammos Beach is now popular with naturists.
