The Chapel of Agios Ioannis (Saint John) Perigialitis lies about 3 km from Mastichari and 23km southwest of Kos Town. It is afforded an idyllic location with panoramic views of the glistening Aegean Sea and surrounding fields full of lush greenery. Archaeological findings suggest that this area was inhabited from ancient times till the 7th century when it was abandoned due to the invading Arab forces.
Today the church stands out for its stunning white-washed exterior that is adorned with some light red features. It resides in a small courtyard that features a few benches under the shade of a tree. Inside the church, there are a few icons of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ and an area in the narthex for guests to light a candle. A festival takes place in the area every year on the 29th of August in honor of Saint John the Baptist.
