Karpathos Piles

General information

Located less than 4 kilometers from Othos, Piles (or Pyles) is a semi-mountainous village with unimpeded views that reach as far as the Sitia Mountains in Crete. Being one of the smallest villages in Karpathos, it is characterized by traditional houses and narrow cobblestone streets, while the surrounding region is rich in lush orchards and olive groves.

At the entrance of Piles, there is a small Agricultural Museum that depicts the rural way of life in the village as faithfully as possible. Among the exhibits, you can see a typical Karpathian farm with a threshing floor and a wine press, as well as a wood stove, a collection of farm tools, a herding area for farm animals, a functional windmill, an olive grove, a real vineyard, and a wheat field.
