Karpathos Villages

Location: 58 km northwest of Pigadia
Description: Olympos is a mountainous village with stone houses, probably the most beautiful on the island. When the clouds come down and cover the village, the atmosphere is dreamy. 

Location: 67 km north of Pigadia
Description: Diafani is a small tourist village close to Olympos. Located on the northern coast, Diafani is the second most important port on the island.

Location: On the southeastern side of Karpathos
Description: Pigadia is the capital and main port of the island. It stands on the location of ancient Potidaion, whose ruins can still be seen on top of the hill overlooking the port. This is a nice base from which to explore the beaches and villages of Karpathos.

Location: 8 km southwest of Pigadia
Description: Constructed along the slopes of a rocky hill, Menetes is a small village with rich a musical tradition and authentic architecture.

Location: 12 km northwest of Pigadia
Description: Othos is a traditional village famous for its local festivities and small folklore museum. It is situated at an altitude of 510 meters, and is surrounded by lush vegetation.

Location: 8 km north west of Pigadia
Description: Aperi used to be the old capital of the island. Hidden by high slopes, Aperi was not used from the sea, so it was a protected area against pirates in the Medieval times. Today, it is a small village with typical architecture.

Description: Arkassa is a beautiful village on the western side of Karpathos, and is great for a relaxing vacation.

Description: Finiki is a small and picturesque fishing port with some tourist facilities. It gets pretty popular in summer.

Description: Kato Lefkos is a seaside village that has developed many tourist facilities over the last few years. The region around Lefkos has many small coves with sandy coasts.

Description: Mesochori is a traditional village built between the sea and the rocky mainland. The architecture of Mesochori comprises narrow paths, white houses, and small chapels.

Description: A small village located on the northwestern side of the island, Piles is close to secluded beaches and has a small agricultural museum.

Location: 24 km southwest of Pigadia
Description: The traditional village of Spoa lies in the center of the island, midway between Pigadia and Olympos. Sprawling on the slopes of an imposing mountain, it affords great views of the Karpathian Sea.

Location: 10 km northwest of Karpathos
Description: This is a tiny, mountainous village close to Aperi. Totally unaffected by tourism, Volada offers a clear view of rural life in Karpathos.
