The small Church of the Virgin Mary is located near the settlement of Mironas, about 15 km north of Pigadia. Locally known as the church of Kyra Panagia, it stands out for its traditional architecture and white-washed exterior and dates to the 6th century. Inside, it has a collection of religious icons and colorful frescoes depicting various holy figures. Of major importance is the icon of the Virgin Mary which is thought to possess miraculous abilities.
The church is built atop a lush hill that overlooks the beautiful Aegean Sea. Its idyllic location has made it one of the most popular landmarks on the island, offering stunning panoramic views of the glistening Aegean waters. Just below the cliff lies the scenic Kyra Panagia Beach, nestled in a small cove and boasting fine white sand and crystal-clear waters.
