General information

Set against the backdrop of Moires Islet with its ancient ruins, Damatria is a lovely secluded beach with crystalline waters, whose light blue color never fails to captivate visitors. Both the beach and the seabed are covered with coarse sand and white pebbles, so it might be a good idea to bring along water shoes.

It is a quiet, partly organized beach that offers a few umbrellas and sunbeds, but there are no other beach facilities whatsoever. If you would like to enjoy some shade without using the umbrellas available, it is best to bring your own equipment. Just bear in mind that Damatria can get quite choppy on windy days.

As it lies no more than 4 kilometers from Karpathos Airport and 15 kilometers from Pigadia, this beach is fairly easy to access. A narrow dirt road also starts at Damatria, leading to some small coves preferred by nudists.

Windy beach with crazy warm water
The road to Damatria is good and there are places for car in the parking. It wasn't crowded but there are only few umbrellas for rent and it is usually all taken. This beach was the most windy of all others. Even more windy than Agrilopotamos! It is impossible to put your own umbrella. It is rocky beach, but when you get into the water it is sandy and the water is so warm and calm. It is crazy, but we loved it. And the water is shallow. In the water there are a lot of small crabs in shell, but they won't hurt you. Beach is good for kids but still, the wind is very strong. You should definitely visit this beach.
