General information

Located on the southwestern coast of Karpathos, Araki is a secluded pebbly beach with sparkling crystalline waters that take on a variety of enchanting hues, from turquoise and azure to the deep blue which is so typical of the Aegean Sea. Other than a handful of umbrellas and sunbeds, this beach offers no other facilities whatsoever, and there are no loud taverns or beach bars. So, if you’re looking for a place of disarming simplicity, where it will be just you and the murmur of the sea, this could well be just the place for you.

In order to make the most of your experience at Araki Beach, don’t forget to equip yourself with all the necessary provisions, including snacks and plenty of liquids, as well as water shoes, as the seabed is covered with small slippery stones. Moreover, it would be a good idea to bring along a mask, as Araki boasts a rich marine flora and fauna and is a nice spot for snorkeling. Just make sure to check the weather forecast first, as this stretch of the coastline is exposed to the wind, and it might be choppy on windy days.

As it does not attract many visitors, Araki is also popular with nudists, but it is not exclusively reserved for naturism.
