Location: Emporio

Sikati Beach lies in a beautiful isolated bay on the northern coast of Kalymnos, 20 km north of Pothia. Visitors to the area should not miss out on exploring its stunning natural landscape, characterized by impressive rock formations and rugged hills. The highlight of the area is, undoubtedly, the enchanting Cave of Sikati.

Locally referred to as Alatsia, the cave could accurately be described as a massive hole in the ground. At a diameter of 50 to 60 meters and a depth of 70 meters at parts, the cave has no roof and offers some nice shade for most of the day. Inside, it features an impressive collection of stalactites and tufa (a type of limestone). Sikati Cave is a popular destination among hikers and mountain climbers, offering plenty of opportunities for climbing on its limestone walls and trekking along its steep paths.

To reach Sikati Cave, take the main road from Skalia to the settlement of Emporio. Park your vehicle at the entrance of the village, then make your way toward the cave on foot. The whole journey can prove tricky at times, especially because of the isolated location of the area and the rugged terrain that can be hard to traverse. With that in mind, visitors should be very mindful when embarking on this trip and come well-prepared with all the appropriate equipment and necessities such as food and water.
