Kalymnos Church of Panagia of Kasteli

Location: Massouri village

The Church of Panagia of Kasteli lies in proximity to the ruins of the historical Castle of Kasteli, on the rugged hill of Cape Aspropundari (about 4 km from Arginonta). The quaint church features a striking blue and white exterior, with a humble bell tower standing next to it. Inside, you will find a small collection of religious icons and artifacts.

Surrounded by impressive hills and lush greenery, visitors can enjoy a serene atmosphere amidst a natural landscape. The advantageous position of the church also provides some breathtaking views of the glistening Aegean as well as the neighboring islet of Telendos. While in the area, make sure to also visit the site of Kasteli Castle for a glimpse into the rich history of the island.

Access to the church is possible through a 15-minute hike up the hill. There is a parking lot at the foot of the hill where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the journey. After a short while you will stumble upon a flight of white stairs leading you directly to the gate of the fence protecting the church.
