General information

Stretching in the heart of a lovely cove just 3 kilometers from Astypalea Town, Livadi is one of the best-organized beaches on the island, as it boasts a number of taverns, cafe-bars and accommodation options. Thus, it is a favorite among those who prefer the comfort of sunbeds and umbrellas, while still offering plenty of room for those who would rather use their own equipment.

The beach is strewn with a combination of pebbles and fine golden sand and enchants visitors with its pristine cerulean waters. The magnificent views of Astypalea Town and the imposing Venetian Castle are yet one more reason to visit it, especially after sundown, when the town lights are beautifully reflected on the water.

Moreover, Livadi is easily accessible both by car and via the local transportation system. The route to get there is quite rewarding, as the road passes by the quaint traditional windmills of Astypalea and a valley covered with lush orchards. Towards the end, the asphalt road gives its place to a dirt track that starts at the artificial lake supplying the island with water. If you have your own vehicle, don’t miss the chance to explore the coastline south of Livadi as well, where you will be able to discover plenty of secluded coves such as the alternative Tzanakia.
