On the easternmost edge of Tinos Port stretches an imposing rocky promontory known as Pasakrotiri. There, visitors will find the Balkan War Memorial, which is dedicated to all the people of Tinos who fell in the Balkan Wars between 1912 and 1913.
The memorial consists of a large four-sided base with marble steps, on top of which stands the monument itself, topped by a pyramid-like structure. Its overall form is somewhat reminiscent of ancient Greek tombs, and on each of the four sides, visitors will find inscribed the names of the Tinian men who fell in battle. Due to its historical importance, it is considered one of the most significant monuments on the island, while from there, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the entire Chora, especially as the sun sets.
