General information

Kavalourko is one of the most isolated beaches in Tinos, located in the northern part of the island, in proximity to Planitis islet. It presents visitors with a stretch of golden sand bordering its breathtakingly clear turquoise waters. The surrounding, lunar-like landscape is truly breathtaking, dominated by intricately formed hills and red rocks. On one of the rocks, you will be able to see the carved head of Aelos, the God of winds, created by an Italian artist.

The beach remains unorganized, lacking amenities such as sunbeds and umbrellas. There are a few tamarisk trees on the shore that offer some natural shade, however, it is still recommended that you bring an umbrella and a towel with you. There are also no places to eat nearby, so visitors are advised to come prepared with all essentials, including food and water. The lack of tourist developments has afforded the area a quiet atmosphere, away from the fuss of busier resorts. This is the ideal destination for relaxation, as you take in the wonderful views of the nearby Panormos Bay and the beautiful Planitis Lighthouse.

To reach Kavalourko, you have to follow a 2 km unpaved road from the settlement of Panormos, which shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes. If you are not traveling by private vehicle, you can take the path that leads to the beach on foot in about 35 minutes. Along the way, you will pass through the neighboring Agia Thalassa Beach, which offers a similar secluded tranquility.
