Sifnos Kamares

General information

Kamares is the port of Sifnos, a beautiful coastal settlement that lies on the western side of the island. The name Kamares originates from the many caves that existed on the south coast of the bay. The port itself serves ferries from Piraeus and other Westen Cyclades islands. The village is well developed with high tourist activity during the summer.

The central settlement extends to the right side of the bay and boasts many tourist facilities. A walk along the waterfront reveals several fine taverns, cafes, and bars for relaxing afternoons and exciting nights. Sifnos is one of the best-known pottery production centers in Greece, therefore you will find many ceramics shops and workshops here as well. Visitors also have a varied choice of accommodations, from high-end hotels to small apartments and rooms to let. Cycladic houses with whitewashed walls line the streets of the picturesque village, adding a traditional flair to this bustling tourist resort.

More about Kamares

Just north of Kamares lies the small settlement of Agia Marina. It features even more accommodations, eateries, and a handful of beautiful churches, including the homonymous church of Agia Marina. Between the two villages lies the pristine Kamares Beach, one of the highlights of the area. The beach is characterized by its golden sand and crystal-clear waters and boasts plenty of amenities, including sunbeds and umbrellas.

Kamares is well-connected with the rest of the island through the public bus system. Frequent buses coming from Apollonia and other popular spots make a stop just 5 minutes from the beach, allowing for easy access to the village.
A municipal tourist office just opposite the quay provides all the information about accommodations and bus schedules and offers luggage storage.
